About Dan Chung
Dan Chung has been a working photojournalist for over 15 years, including a stint as a staff photographer for Reuters. He has covered World News events like the Iraq War, the Boxing Day Tsunami and earthquakes in Pakistan and Sichuan.
An early adopter of new technology, he was one of the first users of pro DSLRs and one of the first News photographers to shoot HD video with DSLRs.
Currently based in Beijing, he shoots both editorial and commercial works as well training others in the the video use of DSLRs.
About Teoh Peng Kee
Teoh Peng Kee worked for Canon Malaysia for over 18 years. he has contacted many seminars on Can EOS cameras and is a pro DSLR specialist. Teoh Peng Kee is popularly known as "The Walking Dictionary of EOS Systems"

Workshop Details
Join Dan Chung in this full day workshop as he dives in depth into the Canon DSLR video functions. Get familar with supporting equipment, such as the Genus matte box. Hands on opporturnities for participants to shoot in a controlled (indoor) environment. Learn how to frame your scenes and engage your subjects in a 2 hour outdoor shoot with one on one guidance from Dan Chung

Venue: Suntec Convention Centre, Level 3, Meeting Room 323 (same side and level as Pearl River Restaurant)
Meals: Tea break and lunch will be provided
Equipment Requirements: Please bring along your Canon EOS 5D Mark II or 7D for the workshop.
Other requirements, if any, will be informed to you via email as soon as possible.
Workshop Agenda:
• Basic run-through of how the various video functions of the Canon DSLR works
• Familiarization of various accessory equipment that Dan uses to help him achieve professional
video results
• A demonstration of the basics of the aesthetics that we try to achieve when using the VSLRs – the 35mm film look. Everyone will get to see how to achieve a shallow depth of field effect.
• Practical Session – Everyone will get to try shooting in a controlled environment with a model or
fellow participant as a sitter. Dan will be around to provide one-to-one guidance.
• Session on real-world shooting: learn how to engage your subjects using Dan’s film “Another Night
in Beijing” as an example. • Discussion about how to frame your scenes using tripods – letting things move in and out of frame
– and how important it is to use as much effort in composing your video as you would a still photo,
not forgetting the need to factor in movement as well.
• Discussion about lenses and how to use different ones to the best effect (for e.g. fisheye, long tele
lens, etc.)
• Discussion about filters and what they do – how they make life easier.
• Practical Session – Together with Dan, participants will go on an outdoor shoot at a specific
location for 2 hours. Learn from the one-to-one advice given by Dan throughout the shoot.
• Review of the practical session
• Basic editing of participants’ works
• Quick review of Dan’s works taken during the same shoot.
• And finally, get inspired!
